guidance for your child's journey
— To play, raise the volume on your computer to a comfortable listening level.
— Start by clicking on the decibel at the top of the screen.
— You’ll hear a tone. That tone played is what that decibel level sounds like.
— Choose the image below the decibel that you think best describes that decibel. For instance, is 80 decibels (dB) as loud as a lawn mower or as quiet as a kitten purring?
If you get stuck on a question, click on the "Hint" link for help!
Remember, the louder a sound, the more likely it is to be uncomfortable to listen to. Sounds that are louder than 85 dB can cause permanent hearing loss when listened to for a long period of time. So listening to music while using ear buds or headphones can cause hearing loss.
