Kirkman is a business consultant, employed with Booz Allen Hamilton since 2006. Her background is in program and project management, defense acquisition, business process improvement and strategic workforce management.
Kirkman was born and raised in Malvern, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Arizona State University and relocated to San Diego, CA after graduation to start her career in consulting. She and her husband Eric moved to Raleigh in 2010 where they now reside with their son EJ and daughter Gia Rives.
Kirkman has been an active member of the Junior League of Raleigh (JLR) for the past 10 years where she was on the Touch-a-Truck team supporting the JLR’s community programs. Other volunteer and advocate involvement has been with the Brentwood Boys and Girls Club; BackPack Buddies; Meredith College’s Autism Program through the Pieces of Promise Gala; and the Wine, Women and Shoes project benefiting Communities in Schools.
BEGINNINGS, founded in 1987, is a 501(c)(3) empowering parents of children who are deaf or hard of hearing through education and support. Last year BEGINNINGS served 1,249 families in 94 out of 100 counties in North Carolina. Services are provided free to N.C. residents who are parents or caregivers of children, ages birth to 22, who are deaf or hard of hearing; to parents who are deaf or hard of hearing; and to professionals who serve these families.
