Studies continue to show that the impacts of COVID-19 upon student learning are long-lasting and serious. That is why BEGINNINGS is pleased to announce we have recently finalized a contract through a Federal grant to implement new initiatives that will help our families of children who are deaf or hard of hearing mitigate that impact.
We will announce the initiatives soon. They will include special workshops, publications, and training for families on how to help children as they begin to make up the learning time that they missed over the past two years.
Executive Director Diane Doak says, "Children across North Carolina have experienced educational losses due to COVID. Children who are Deaf or hard of hearing have struggled with virtual learning, delays of in person evaluations and reduced service times. Our goal is to help parents learn to advocate for their child in order to mitigate those educational losses."
